Our crystal of the month for October is Amber! This is a beautiful, distinctive looking stone with wonderful metaphysical properties that will help to balance the emotions, clear the mind and ease feelings of stress.
Amber is actually not strictly a gemstone, but is fossilised tree resin! Amber has history linked back to many countries and cultures all over the world, and some pieces of amber have been found by archaeologists that date all the way back to 2000 BC. Well known pieces of amber include those made with insects inside them, such as spiders and dragonfly’s, as these were once thought to be extremely magical!
Amber can be found across the world, in Russia, Poland, Britain, Germany and Italy and is usually a dark orange colour, although can sometimes appear as pale yellow.
Benefits of Amber
Amber has an incredibly soothing and light energy that can calm and heal the body, mind and spirit.
Amber is also great at absorbing any pain or negative energies, helping to alleviate worry and stress as well as clearing depression. Aiding the emotions and building a more positive outlook on life, amber can help to stimulate intellect, self-confidence and self-expression by opening the sacral chakra.
As well as being a great healer of any emotional problems, amber can heal physical pain in the same way, especially headaches, throat problems, bone or joint pain, hearing issues and any stomach or digestive difficulties.
How to Use Amber
As amber is so beautiful, it makes a wonderful piece of jewellery. Why not consider wearing your amber as a necklace or a ring, to benefit from its healing properties every single day!
You can also carry amber around with you by keeping a piece in your pocket, this will be particularly beneficial if the crystal is carried or worn close to a particular problem area.
Wear or carry your amber crystal during times of illness to encourage relief and healing. You could also leave a piece of amber around your home to cleanse the environment.
