Winter’s dark nights and cold weather can make us feel ill and gloomy. Even though it’s a magical time of year, the weather change and lack of light can keep our moods down. Sometimes it is better to get out and take part in fun activities. You’ll get fresh air, you’ll be around people and it’ll make you feel miles better- we promise! If you stay inside, you could take part in activities that are more on the creative side! Here are some ideas that could make you feel much more festive for the Winter!
Walk in the park with your dog
Dogs radiate joy and what’s better than seeing them having the time of their lives, running after a ball in the snow? Getting outside in the fresh air can wake us up and make us realise how beautiful winter can be. You never know, you might bump into a fellow dog owner, and you could end up having a chat, too!
DIY Christmas card crafts
Get in the festive mood by making Christmas cards with your family. Buy some card, felt, paint plus other bits and bobs from a craft shop so you can make unique cards to give to friends. Putting the extra effort is a great way to spread the festive cheer! Why not have a look online for some arty inspiration?
Baking is very creative and a lot of fun. Getting a few family members or friends together to make tasty goods is an excellent way to bond this Winter. After you’ve made your treats, you could decorate with icing and other toppings to put your artistic flair into practice. You can give these as little gifts, or you could keep them for yourself as a great indulgence. The choice is yours!
Christmas light switch-on
Attending a festive event could fill you with Christmas spirit since everyone is together in a happy atmosphere. Research and discover what’s going on in your area. There might be different events throughout December that you and your family could enjoy, so take part!
Ice skating and sledding.
If it’s not cold enough to sled, ice skating is a great activity you can do with friends or family. Get out your gloves and wooly hats so you can keep warm around the rink. Dressing up in Winter gear can get you in the mood for Christmas, plus it’s a great way to exercise. If it’s snowing outside, sledding is an easy way to provide lots of laughter. Just make sure the hills aren’t too steep- you wouldn’t want any accidents!
Decorate your home
Whether it’s outside or inside, fairy lights and other accessories can make a home feel warm in the Winter. If you want to step it up a notch, buy red, gold or green themed blankets and pillows for your lounge so you can wrap up warm. Christmas movies in some PJs? Yes, please!
Build a snowman
When building a snowman, you can be as creative as you want to. It’s a little tradition for many families when it’s snowing enough outside. You could even make mini snowmen for each person in your family, too! It costs nothing, and it’s a great way to entertain a family.
