When trouble looms large, love and hope tend to take a backseat. We lose all our zest for life and its goings-on and when things really hit rock-bottom, we find it difficult to see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.
It is at such times that a positive attitude sustains one when the chips are down. A few ways by which we can become more positive in the face of setbacks are:
Take your chances: Life is similar to tossing a coin, in that you win some and you lose some. Whether we accept it or not, luck plays an important role in our lives and is beyond our control. Something that cannot be restrained or directed, needs to accepted and endured with fortitude. Like with a coin that changes with every toss, so is luck which will change with the next turn of life.
After every night comes dawn: Despite the gloom look up at the broad expanse of the sky above and gaze at it intently. The millions of stars and clouds you see rushing past are going to make you realize that a new day will dawn at the end of the night. If you look at nature and its manifold creations and reflect on the minute details, realization will dawn that we are part of a greater scheme of things. This is where our personal belief system helps us to get a clearer picture of things. Our existence itself is a miracle not out of accident, but design.
Switch off the gadgets: In our modern lives we have become slaves to technology in the form of mobile-phones, laptops, tablets etc. This has led to an information overload to our senses; so switch off the gadgets periodically and connect with nature.
Take a moment to appreciate the Love in your life: Ever taken a moment to stop and think about those who love us, unconditionally? Probably not! Learn to appreciate all the love you have in your life and this is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. Forget about the love that walked out of your life. You deserve better and need to revel in what you have. Open your heart to the love all around you.
Practice being Polite: Even when you are in the depths of despair never lose your politeness, practice it at every opportunity you get and with all those you come across. Express your gratitude and be genuine in your expression. The more courteous and polite you are, the better will people around you respond and this will be witnessed in their positive reactions.
Finding the light at the end of the tunnel may seem a challenge at times, but at the end all it takes is courage and fortitude to prevail and emerge successful at the end.
